LL Urban Farms was formed by the friendship of two families, the Loys and the Langs. The friendship that sparked the business began 11 years ago when the Loy and Lang children met at Athens Drive High School. The union was made official when Dustin and Taylor got married in October in 2013.
In early 2012, Jim and Debbie Loy and Glen and Barb Lang began brainstorming the idea of a small urban sustainable farm that would focus on the year-round production of hydroponic lettuce. Their idea grew and the greenhouse went up on Holly Springs Road in Raleigh.
LL Urban Farms is a hydroponic farm and farm stand. We have now proven that you can produce bibb lettuce year round in North Carolina. Hydroponic production practices and a greenhouse made this possible. Also, youtube and friendly neighbors can go a long way for novice farmers.
Our farm stand is in full swing. In addition to our own vegetables, we are offering numerous local vegetables, fruits, cheese, seafood and other farmers market staples. We also have 20 heritage breed chickens and two bee hives to add to the ambiance of the farm.
